The good about swapping is when you get back some spankin' blocks, like these flying geese from the swap at Beyondbeginners! I was so happy to hear that Judy will be hostessing another swap of geese, cause I love them and cant ever get enough! They're just so versatile and add great movement to any quilt, especially a scrap quilt! I plan on making about 80 for the next swap! Love them, love them, LOVE THEM!

The good and bad about swapping....
The bad about swapping, having people drop off the face of the earth in the middle of an event. One of the friends in the friendship swap at Mailblocks is no where to be found. So what happens? I pick up where she left off, so these are the blocks going to Stacy in CA for Jan and Feb, I sure hope she likes them. I really liked the original fabrics I chose to send to Tabitha, and I was really looking forward to working with them, so hopefully Stacy will like them also.

Purple Row Robin Block Instructions
This is a quick how-to for my purple purples Row Robin, I wanted a flower set on point, so I had to go with a 6" flower block and setting triangles. Since mailblocks is a beginners list, I wanted everyone to see how I got the finished product. All the participants have the dimesions needed for each block, if there are any questions I can address them with the photos.
Gillian comes through again!

I'm not sure
These asterisks from Tonya's pages are wicked fun to do and oh so cute, but I'm not sure I can get another strip across these without making them look like big blobs. I have even started with a bit thinner strips, 7/8" rather than the 1" she suggests. I will admit I used closer to an 1/8" seam though, oh well, I'll keep on trying, I'm having a good time!
Purples and geese
My starter row for Purple Purples Row by Row at Mailblocks.
I also popped off 28 3x6" flying geese blocks (sorry, no pics, went straight in the mail) for swap at BeyondBeginners using Quilt in a Day ruler. That thing rocks! So quick, perfect blocks and hardly any waste! It took me about an hour, I could have made more but since I was still a little leery, I did them set by set.
I have always used this method http://www.patchpieces.com/Flyinggeese.html in the past but not anymore, I am hooked on this ruler! I need the 4x8" size next. I love flying geese, they're just so traditional looking and can make a simple quilt look very intricate.

109? Help me to understand!
Ok, I think my sons are killer handsome...but is it normal for them to think they're killer handsome? I mean killer handsome in the sense that they have 109 photos of themselves saved on my camera and computer? Are they asking the same question about why I have so many pictures of fabric choices, blocks made from those fabrics, quilt tops made from those blocks and fully quilted quilts from the quilt tops? :-)
From my quilty friend....

Fairly productive Sunday
All in all Sunday was fairly productive, which is one good thing for a Steeler fan living in Indianapolis I guess. Heart blocks for lotto at Mailblocks. 4 patches for challenge issued by Missa at Sunshine. I'm not sure I managed to make them kid friendly enough with the 2½' strips she sent for the 4 patches, but maybe if they get all mixed up with others she has sent to her they might just look a little kid friendly then.

Mystery from www.jofigure.com
My buddy Rhonda designed this Valentine's mystery at http://www.jofigure.com/ for the Mailblocks group, but has made it available to all on her website.
This is my version without pieced heart borders that I am planning to finish it off. I think it will make a wonderful bay quilt for a little girl!
